Also called a gem essence or crystal elixir, a crystal essence is water that has received the energetic properties of the crystal that has been placed in it. Together crystals and water are allies in nature, and it’s another lovely way to work with the metaphysical vibrations of healing crystals.
A crystal essence is super easy to DIY: place your crystal of choice in a glass of distilled water overnight. Voila, you did it. Thanks for stopping by.
Once you have your essence you can add it to an herbal tincture or combine with flower essences. The herbal allies that resonate for me are essential oils. Play with it and have fun! My preservative of choice is witch hazel because it’s great for the skin and not-problematic for anyone in recovery (that said, some folks use vodka or brandy. Be you and live out loud).
Lots of folks take essences internally and I say use at your own risk, especially around toxic stones like malachite. For me, energies transcend time and space, so I’ve found that working with them externally is just as beneficial. (Be you, live out loud).
How are the essences for SPIRIT WORK made?
So glad you asked! When I make the essences for SPIRIT WORK I work ceremonially, which involves some backyard magic/under cover of night type shit. I find the energies to be very potent, as I’m holding space for all of the recipients and am working on a pretty big scale. I use many stones for each essence and prefer to work with them in their raw or rough and untreated state.
Note not all crystals can be submerged in water…Selenite is a crystal I use in SPACE and I absolutely love its energies, but it’s a type of gypsum so it breaks down in water. In the same formula I also use Lepidolite, a form of mica that’s friable, so I fashion a sort of double boiler to have the energies transfer.
SPIRIT WORK is a mist. In mist form I love how the vibrations can be dispersed into a room, around your body, and spread through any space where you’re making any kind of energetic shift – your work space, meditation corner, your home yoga spot, your desk, your bed, front door, kitchen, hotel room – everywhere you’re looking to call in or release energy.
I make crystal essences for Spirit Work four times a year, working with the energies of each season, and in harmony with the moon cycle.
My current batch is empowered with the transformative energies of August’s solar eclipse. The energies around these essences carry the fire and electricity of Leo season; with intentions for power, agency, and self-possession to carry us through the fall.
The next moon cycle I’m working with the New Moon in Scorpio and the Cold Moon - December’s Full Moon in Gemini. This is also a supermoon which means the moon’s orbit is as close as it can be to earth. I like to think of this as a little super-charge.
These sprays will be used in the winter months so they will be programmed with energies around building, strengthening, observation, and perseverance. This time of year isn’t so much about taking action as it is creating a strong foundation for the inner work that gets accomplished around this time. Winter is darker days, the grounding activities of home and hearth life, time spent with family and dealing those patterns, time spent in celebration, and with the new year, the tradition of creating new patterns, the dedication to careers and projects and self-improvement. The groundwork we do in the winter months lays a beautiful path for growth and exploration in the spring.
